This score was developed by Sheen, Paajanen and others at The University of Manchester. The SPoRT score has demonstrated excellent performance with an accuracy of 89.54%, sensitivity of 90.9%, specificity of 89.2% and an AUROC of 0.9356. The scoring system was developed by Professor Aali Sheen and Dr. Hannu Paajanen in an international collaborative effort.
The app provides an interactive way to select observed symptoms and calculate the SPoRT score which gives the probability of requiring surgery for the patient.
